Welcome to Sovata!
Sovata is a resort for every season, recognized at European level since 1850. Lakes with chlorinated water and sodium - and the sludge in them - have therapeutic properties for many disorders, particularly gynecological diseases. Surrounded by wooded hills with beech, oak, elm, chestnut trees, oaks, and the Salt Mountain, the resort offers excellent opportunities for rest and relaxation. The climate is subalpine, with cool summers and mild winters.
Sovata is situated at the bottom of the south-eastern Gurghiului mountains in the oriental Carpathians, at an altitude of about 520m, in Praid-Sovata hollow. Referred to as 'blessed place' since 1597 Sovata became a health resort in 1884. An all-season resort, one of the oldest in the country, Sovata gained fame due to his salt lakes: Ursu (433086 sq ft), Aluniş (39590 sq ft), Red, Green and Black, with chlorine and sodium waters presenting helioterme phenomena.
City of Sovata is situated at 62 km from Tîrgu Mureş on rout (DN E60), at 60km from Gheorgheni on rout (13B), at 42 km from Odorheiul Secuiesc on rout (13A), at 400 km from Bucharest on (DN E60) and 600 km from Budapest (Hungary).
